Introducing Daisy "Sniffle-Snort" Graney

"Mama, mama! You have to come see her!" Kimmie runs up to me, wrapping her pudgy fingers around my leg.

"Who, my love?" I respond, giving her a little squeeze and go back to my gardening.

Kimmie jumps up and down and shouts, "The puppy! The puppy! She's sooo cuuute!"

In astonishment I ask, "What puppy?"

At this point, Dave walks around the corner and says, "Oh, just the one at the pet shop. Let's go!"

I look at him and say, "No way. If I go, we're coming home with a new puppy. Absolutely not!"

"Come on, we'll just look. Of course we're not getting a puppy. But she is really cute!" He replies.

I think to myself, "Oh no, here we go..."

A couple hours later, we come home with an 8 week old English bulldog puppy. At first, I was really resistant and I think I put up a good fight, but after lots of "Mommm, pleeeze" and "We'll do all the work, we'll walk her, feed her, and play with her" and "She's so cute" that I kind of imploded and agreed. Of course I did. There was no question that I wouldn't once I stepped through the pet shop doors.

My protests went something like "I thought we were a doberman family! We don't know anything about bulldogs! Besides, if we do get a puppy, we should go to a breeder, not a pet shop! All the puppies in pet shops are crazy!" I also pleaded with "But I'm not ready for a puppy! They're a lot of work! I know you guys say you'll walk, feed, and play with her but I know that I will be doing most of it!" As a last resort, I asserted "If we really want her, let's go home tonight and think about it. Then we'll come back tomorrow--I promise!"

None of my bellyaching or clamoring worked. I was outnumbered 3:1.

It has been 5 days now and although having a puppy IS a lot of work...how can you really resist such a cute face?
Obviously, we all couldn't. Welcome to our family Daisy "Sniffle-Snort" Graney (aka Daisy-Helga-Huffle-Puff-Sniffle-Snort Graney)! Now stop chewing on my flip flops! Or the lamp cords! Or rocks from the planters (you'll CHOKE)! No! No! No! Ah, lovely puppy times ahead!
