A Poem for a Just Turned Seven Year Old
Seven seconds ago
you were a tiny babe
who slept in my arms.
Today you blew out
seven candles with
one puff.
You have the stuff
of bright eyes
and mind,
precocious
and kind.
Oh sunshine of mine,
I could never rewind
this soaring joy
that finds
a home in my heart.
